A World Economic Forum report predicts that 50% of employees will need reskilling by 2025 as automation and digitization continue to reshape industries. For GCCs, ensuring that their workforce has the skills required for future roles is crucial to maintaining competitiveness and operational excellence.
Upskilling involves training employees to enhance their current skills, while reskilling focuses on teaching them new competencies to take on different roles within the organization. As automation and AI technologies take over routine tasks, companies need employees who can manage, interpret, and leverage these tools to drive strategic initiatives.
To build a future-ready workforce, GCCs must implement continuous learning programs tailored to the evolving needs of the industry. This could include digital training platforms, certifications in emerging technologies, and partnerships with educational institutions to provide employees with access to cutting-edge knowledge.
Leaders should also encourage a culture of learning by offering employees the time and resources to upskill or reskill. Internal mentorship programs can complement these initiatives by pairing employees with senior colleagues who can offer guidance and support as they develop new skills. Upskilling programs should focus on areas like data analysis, AI, automation, cybersecurity, and digital transformation to ensure the workforce remains relevant in a rapidly changing landscape.
